It was a great day to do some of the touristy things.

Others were doing some of the camping things

Not being too lucky

Quite a few kayakers enjoying the river


Lots of squirrels around but none would pose for me.

Once again my Wing proves what a versatile bike she is......NOT

I got the front wheel about three feet into the sand then used my reverse gear to back out.

The last time I was here a lot more of the ship was exposed above the sand.

Pretty sure he had booked passage in one of the aft cabins

At least this guy had a little more protection from the elements



For being midweek, a lot of people were visiting

Finally a guy with a kite showed up


Launch was successful

We thought we had found part of Battery Russell, but it wasn't

It was just a wildlife viewing area, but none to be seen







Battery Russel is the only place on US soil that was fired upon by a foreign country

The structures remain, but the artillery has been removed.





The site served from 1904-1944. When it was fired on by the Japanese submarine, the Americans did not return fire so as not to disclose their position.

So we went to Norma's to celebrate with a bowl of Chowder

It's really hard to decide when the Chowder is so good

Sherm and I decided to take a little trip to visit the  Wupatki National Monument NE of Flagstaff. It is estimated that these tribes were living here around 800 to 900 hundred years ago. It is kind of fun to walk around the ruins and try to imagine how they came up with a mortar to bind the rocks together into their pueblos. The guy just past those steps on the trail walked to the top of that hilltop pueblo. I on the otherhand took a very hard fall walking backward into those same steps trying to get a better shot of the building to the right in this picture. Three days later I am still stove up from the tumble. If you have really good eyes you can see that guy standing on the very top. They were using this very garden plot nine hundred years ago. Maybe not. Speculation has it that the circle area was used for games, rituals, and dancing. I'm still trying to figure out how they made the mortar. She has carried me to many places and never a breakdown or even minor repair yet due to a factory issue. It was right here that it happened I'd wager that I'm not the only one to take a picture of this while rolling along. After enduring three days of 100* plus days and not thinking once to replenish my electrolytes, we arrived with me being as sick as I can remember in many years from heat exhaustion. I said my quick hello's and then headed to the rain locker to try and cool out. Even after four days, I am still trying to regain what little strength this old body still has.  When Sherm and I awoke the  next morning we took the CAR into Sturgis where I got some electrolytes to try and start my road to recovery. Replacing those had an almost immediate  effect on how I felt, but still a long way to go. Sherm heard that the Rapid City Powersports had a 900 Kawasaki that he thought he would like, he didn't. Quick stop in Kingman for tacos as I start my first trip of the year. Sherm gave me instructions for how to get to Pancho's but following those I arrived here which is not Pancho's. I have ridden over this bridge at least two times a year since it was built and I've always wanted to stop and use the walkway. I never seemed to have the time until this year. Now I'm a little worried about being able to climb to the top. Ugh! On the way up I needed to stop and rest so I took a picture so all of the other people climbing wouldn't think I was a wimp. Another rest stop. Hoover Dam. Lake Mead is still pretty low. A lot of horsepower of electricity is generated here. Looks like Arizona has a bridge to nowhere too! From the current water level to the top of the high water mark on those rocks is currently 154' From the walk way you can see the highway (I-11) as well as the dam.
